2. OBJECTIVE

The objective of this paper is to provide an assessment of the impacts of human activities associated with the projected population growth of Loreto on the marine environment. In particular, we will assess:

1. The potential effects of the development of a desalination plant on the marine habitat and its consequences for fish nurseries and the replenishment of fish populations.
2. The impacts of an increase of local fish demand associated with increased human population on the fish assemblages of the NMPBL.
